Logistics & FAQs

  • TORONTO SHUTTLE: The Camp Arafah team recognizes the increased cost associated with attending the retreat for our Canadian neighbors, given the CAD-USD conversion rate. Therefore, we are working to coordinate a 40-passenger van to bring attendees to/from Toronto & the retreat center at a discounted rate. InshaAllah, if we have enough attendees from Toronto, we will confirm the bus and make announcements via social media & email. We estimate the cost to be around $50-100 per person, pending final registration numbers. Please be sure to indicate your interest in the Toronto Shuttle in the registration form!

  • ALLERGIES & DIETARY RESTRICTIONS: We will do our best to accommodate allergies and special dietary needs to the best of our ability and will communicate with you if we are unable. Please add specific details in the registration form.

  • YOUNG CHILDREN: I’m a parent in the designated attendee age range. Can I bring my young child? Camp Arafah is not designed for children given that there are no programming specifically directed for them. However, attendees in the camp’s designated age range, with babies and toddlers, are still welcome to register for the camp! You will be responsible for overseeing them throughout the retreat. Please purchase a ‘Children 0-3 Ticket’ for your young child along with a special request ticket for a smaller private room.

  • PRIVATE ROOMS: Special request tickets for a smaller private room (2, 3, and 4 person rooms) are available for purchase. These are available to any attendee, but more directed towards families and couples.

  • AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION: Will there be transportation to/from airports and the retreat site? The Camp Arafah team will organize carpooling with the support of our local attendees, hire transportation services, or connect attendees with others arriving at the same airport — depending on volume of attendees arriving from out of town. We plan to have local volunteers drive our dear attendees arriving from out of town - departing at 12 PM and 3 PM from each of our local airports. Camp check-in begins at 4 PM on Friday. We strongly encourage you to fly to BWI or DCA airports. IAD is the third and farthest option. Please try to plan your flights according to this schedule so we may optimize the carpooling logistics. Registered attendees will receive a form about 10 days before the camp to send their travel information, insha’Allah.

  • SINGLE-DAY PASSES: By the grace of Allah (swt), last year we limited the camp to 160 people we and reached full capacity. In anticipation of 200 total attendees for the 2025 camp, to ensure an intimate workshop environment and adequate personalized time with our scholars, and to ensure logistics remain manageable during the event and in compliance with our hosts, we CANNOT GUARANTEE that single-day passes will be available for the retreat. The Camp Arafah Team will asses our capacity after registration has closed and will add additional tickets if possible. The programming of each day is curated intentionally to provide a rich spiritual journey and experience. Workshops are tailored to our attendees and will build on each other. We highly encourage those interested in participating to register for the camp as a whole.

  • STUDENTS & THOSE WHO REQUIRE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: The Camp Arafah Team is committed to ensuring that cost is not a barrier to benefiting from the presence and knowledge of our scholars. Discounted student-rate tickets are available for high school and undergraduate students. If the total registration cost presents a burden, please reach out to camparafah@gmail.com so we can work to accommodate your needs, insha’Allah.

  • VOLUNTEERS: We are in need of local volunteers who are able to drive our dear guests from out of town to/from IAD, DCA, and BWI airports. We also need volunteers to help set up workshops, oversee tournaments, and support logistics. Please indicate your interest in the registration form.

  • PACKING LIST: Attendees are required to bring their own bedding for the retreat. Please be sure to pack personal snacks, modest water-proof clothing for lake activities, and a journal for note-taking and reflection. Additional packing list will be sent via email prior to the retreat.
